- If a variable is declared but not used, then its a compile time error.
- If a variable is available in lower case and is in the package level, then the scope of that variable is ONLY in the package
- Any file in the same package can access it
- If a variable is available in upper case and is in the package level, it is exported and the scope is global.
- If a variable is declared in a block, the variable is scoped only to that block
- A variable cannot be redeclared but it can be “shadowed” aka scoped
